Thymogen (Glutamyl-Tryptophan)

Also known as: EW Dipeptide, Glu-Trp, Timogen

Overview

A synthetic dipeptide (L-glutamyl-L-tryptophan) developed as the minimal active fragment responsible for thymic immunomodulation. Used clinically in Russia as a nasal spray for immune support and prevention of respiratory infections.

Half-Life
~20 minutes
Typical Dose
100–500 mcg
Frequency
1x daily intranasally or 2-3x per week injectable
Cycle Length
3-10 day courses, repeated seasonally

Administration

IntranasalIntramuscularSubcutaneous

Benefits

  • Stimulates T-cell maturation and differentiation
  • Enhances innate immune defense against respiratory infections
  • Normalizes T-cell subpopulation ratios
  • Convenient intranasal administration
  • Reduces frequency and severity of upper respiratory infections
  • Improves immune recovery after immunosuppressive therapies

Side Effects

  • Nasal irritation with intranasal use (mild)
  • Transient sneezing after intranasal dosing
  • Injection site discomfort (uncommon)
  • Mild headache (rare)

Mechanism of Action

  • Activates thymic epithelial cell signaling for thymocyte maturation
  • Enhances phagocytic activity of neutrophils and macrophages
  • Increases natural killer cell cytotoxicity
  • Modulates production of thymic hormones and growth factors
  • Restores suppressed immune parameters after radiation or chemotherapy

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Organ transplant recipients
  • Active autoimmune disease flare

Storage & Reconstitution
